How to Never Lose Your Keys Again

If you've ever lost your keys and could practically see the spare set through the window you'll know how frustrating it is. It is an all too common mistake but one that can be avoided. All you need to do is follow a few simple tips and you'll never be left out in the cold again.

By putting your keys in exactly the same place time and again, you will eliminate the possibility of losing them. How many times have you thought you'd put them on the sideboard only to have found them in the kitchen or under a cushion somewhere? Or perhaps you have a cheeky toddler who picks up anything left within reach and puts them in a 'safe place' for you - queue hours of hunting for your keys in every possible hiding place from the fridge to the toy box! Bags are another common place to lose your keys. You'd think they're safe in there but after hunting for keys time and again we still never learn to put them in a safe place within our bags to prevent them from disappearing when we're looking for them.

Try to hang your keys up instead of putting them in a basket or on the side. By hanging them up they're less likely to go astray. Perhaps buy a special key hanger and put it in whichever room you visit as soon as you walk through the door. By placing it in the most logical place you're more likely to put them there every time rather than forgetting. You'll soon get into the habit of putting your keys in the new dedicated home once you have done it a few times and it will soon become second nature.

Using a bright and bulky keyring that makes them heavy and uncomfortable to keep in your pocket will assist in making you hang them up. It will also make them easier to find when they are lost among the contents of a handbag. Some people find clipping their keys onto the inside of their bag allows them to find them more easily, or perhaps attaching them to a magnet within the bag.
